    Very interesting. I …
Very interesting. I prefer natural hair personally. I think perhaps during Madame Walker’s day, strait hair was a means of imulation and acceptance, but today it may be more of a fashion statement, pride in heritage as well an indicator of affluence.

    Hey!

This topic, similar to many others about societal norms & colorism, etc, are very interesting. This topic about hair is very complex, there are just so many areas of discussion that are related to this! The bottom line is that the choice of what you do with YOUR hair is ultimately up to YOU and YOU ONLY.

What the brother said…I have been saying the same thing for YEARS.

If it were just about choice then those of us who choose to wear our natural hair wouldn’t get attacked by OUR OWN PEOPLE for doing so. News flash: The “others” don’t care as much as y’all think…

We’re supposed to be FREE PEOPLE…and never more so than NOW. So why do so many of us still believe we HAVE to make our hair conform to someone else’s standard? News flash: We DON’T.
