Why do African American women try to be Caucasian?

Published by admin at 12:03 am under African American Wig

READ: Ladies, don’t you get tired of that question and people saying it? I seriously don’t understand why people say African American women try to be white. How? Is it because we straighten our hair( first off, its more manageable, and Corporate America wouldn’t accept us natural. True stuff). Ive never wore a weave or a wig, my hair is very curly and thick so when tryin to just throw it in a pony tail is difficult, so I get my hair flat ironed. I get called tryin to “be white” for doing this. My sistas(african american women) who do wear weaves and chemically straighten their hair are also bashed and been told that they’re “tryin to be white”. Why cant we straighten our freakin hair without being told that? No, better question. How is an African American woman suppose to look?
latrell: I know this and I said that before, but Ive seen questions and many black guys saying it..I just want to know what they mean and what they think African American women should look like
*I've said
hnic, stop.
Lol: And you're telling me this because?

cj are you 4 real…black women and all sistas look just fine the way they are…its the white women with all there butt implanta and lip injections who are trying to look black

edit: my bad…. i didnt read the rest…but still i spoke the truth

I think a better question would be, why do so many White people spend billions of dollars trying to darken their skin verses trying to make it whiter since they are so proud of being white? Things that make you say humm. Or why do Whites like cholcolate verses vanilla? One more then I’ll stop, Why is the ideal man for a White woman tall, dark and handsome verses tall and pale as a ghost? Just curious.

Ok not ALL African American women try to be white. Even so there are a lot of White women who try to be black. I personally don’t try to be proper so that I don’t fit that horrible stereotype that is out there for black women. I am not being raised in a “ghetto” environment so I haven’t been exposed to a lot of that. It’s not trying to be white it’s trying to make something of yourself don’t flatter yourself the weave I’ve seen is a not trying to be white. Because the mannerisms those type people have are not being white they are doing them. I straighten my hair with a perm because I don’t want my hair to look like a bush. What respective job would I get if I had my hair all afroed up. So you are wrong . I have to say get your facts straight

Don’t worry about it. It’s just stupid people saying stupid things. I love to get a tan in the summer, but I’m not trying to be African-American. Taking care of yourself and looking your best isn’t trying to BECOME someone else.

    its pretty ridiculous
    i mean just because
    you do something thats
mainly associated with one race or culture
doesnt mean your trying to “conform” (man i hate that word!!)
to it. people should do would they want and f u c k the strereotypes

African - American women have the most versatile hair. We can wear it straight, naturally curly, fro, braids, weaves, etc.. We embrace all aspects of our culture. Sometimes we get bored with the same hairdo all the time. It has absolutely nothing to due with race or color.

what are you talking about? you sound like you have a self-esteem issue because other people’s thoughts of you and name calling should not affect you so harshly.

I agree. When I wear my hair natural and curly, I know it looks cute, but honey, you should see the looks white women give me when I do. They look at me like I’m disgusting. But when I flat iron my long lusious locks, I’m in like flin.

I’ve never thought that, it never even crossed my mind. I think it looks like when black girls leave their hair alone, when its natural. Its stupid how white people think everyone wants to be like them/us (im white).

    i understand the hair thing.

imo tho whenever i see a black girl or any minority female really try and change their eye color with contacts, thats really a sign of them trying to look more white.
