how to wash a good quality human hair wig and what type of shampoo/conditioner should be used?

Published by admin under Wig Human Hair

thanks for your help!

Okay, this is what you do.

Wash it in the tub by holding it over one hand under the sink, or use a removeable shower head. Make sure the water pressure isn’t too strong, or this could be damaging. You want to use luke warm to cool water. Never hot!!

Shampooing:
Apply a regular amount of shampoo in the wig and start massaging it in gently, only using down ward strokes…you can squeeze gently too to make sure it goes all the way through the hair. Do this for a couple minutes, then rinse very thoroughly.

Conditioning:
Do the same with the conditioner, massage it in, focusing on your ends, and then with a wide toothed comb, gently comb through starting at the ends to detangle it. Rinse thorougly and then finish by rinsing with very cold water for a few moments. This will close the cuticles in the hair to make it smoother, shinier and keep it clean longer!

Drying:
Then gently squeeze out some of the water. Do not wring it!!!! God forbid!! Then hang it up for a few minutes to drip dry, while you do some other bathroom type things… Then you can take a clean towel and gently squeeze out the water. (I realize i’ve used the word gently like a million times, but there’s a reason why, and that is because wigs are extremely easy to damage if you’re not careful, and the damage is basically irreversible most of the time, because…well..the hair doesnt grow back.) So squeeze out some of the water with the towel, and then either let it air dry a little longer before you put it on, or just tape or glue it on and let it dry while it’s on you.

Styling:
If you can help it, don’t blow dry. I used to blow dry my wigs all the time, thinking theyd only look good if i did. This is a mistake. If you have a good quality wig, it should dry nicely naturally. Heat tools do so much damage to wigs its not even funny. Not only does the hair not grow back in, but wigs have alot less moisture than real hair, because they don’t get as many oils from our scalp. If you find that the hair is frizzy or kinky, try a couple products, or maybe just use your flat iron or blow drier on select parts to style it nicer. I’m not saying NEVER use heat tools, obviously its fun to try different things, but if you’re blow drying your hair from wet to dry every time you wash it, you’re going to notice alot of damage.

The great thing about human hair wigs is that you can use regular hair products!! So there isnt one special product for wigs. I would experiment, try different brands and see what works best. What i find is hardest is getting the balance of having moisture, and smoothness with volume and not leaving residue. Wigs are very delicate that way, in that it can be easy to add too much oil and moisture, and leave a residue that makes the hair greasy and unmanageable, or not having enough moisture and having the hair be dry and frizzy. Don’t think that just because something is "salon brand" that it’s better, because ive done some research, and salon brands arent nessecarily better at all, they use the same ingredients. Find what works best for you.
I would think about going for a light shampoo, such as a volume shampoo or a clarifying or deep cleansing shampoo. This will help keep your wig clean and healthy and wont be weighed down. You’re not supposed to wash your wig every day, so you dont want to be using products that will make it dirtier faster!
Then pair it with a hydrating conditioner, to give it moisture and smoothness. I use big sexy hair - volume shampoo with hello hydration conditioner by herbal essences. These work great for me! The big sexy gives my hair thickness and volume, and the conditioner makes it super soft and silky. It smells soooo good too and makes it beautiful and shiny without weighing it down.
Then what i usually do is let it air dry, and then blow dry my bangs down, cause they get pouffy haha! and then sometimes add some chi silk reconstructing complex, which is kind of like a gloss, into the ends, for extra softness, shine and moisture. Then..you know..sometimes i use more products and either straighten or curl it…but not all the time. The key for heat styling wigs is always use a heat protection serum or spray. I recommend Chi Iron Guard spray. All the chi products are awesome!
How often should you wash your wig? Umm..it depends! It depends on if it gets rained on, if you use alot of products, if you sweat in it, etc. I usually wash mine every 2nd or 3rd day. Probably an average of 3 times a week….hmm yeah..
And i’d recommend once in a while doing a deep conditioning treatment. Once every couple weeks would probably be good. You can always just use pure coconut oil.

Are there any african-american women who wear half a wig?

Published by admin under African American Wig

Does it work well for you? How do you wear it? What kind is it?

I’m not African-American, I’m mexican-american and my cousin wears those wigs. She wears both the full and the half. Both fit well but she has to be careful with the half.

is a wig cap necessary for quite long hair under a costume wig?

Published by admin under Fancy Dress Wig

I have quite long hair, thats also quite thick, but for a fancy dress party I am going to be wearing a long blonde wig. Do I need buy a wig cap, if im only going to be wearing it for a day and never again? I only want to buy it if its absolutely necessary, as this party is already costing quite a lot.

Maybe you could tie it back, use some hairspray and a hair net. Those aren’t expensive.

The best place to get human hair lace front wigs online.?

Published by admin under Front Lace Wigs

I’m looking to change my look up some. I want to experiment with wigs. I’ve found some but are a little confused on them. What is half wig? Help Please.

Hello,

Try this site: http://thelacewigsstore.com/xcart/FULL-LACE-WIGS-and-LACE-FRONT-WIGS.html

If you are going to experiment with wigs, you might as well experiment with a company that values the quality of their wigs. I purchase my lace wigs from there and have no problems whatsoever. In addition, you can go on a monthly plan where you get a new lace wig every 3 months!

Also for more information on different types of lace wigs go to: http://thelacewigsstore.com/about-wigs.php

Good luck!

Are women’s clothes really more uncomfortable than mens? Do you think I can win this bet?

Published by admin under Mens Wig

Some women at work were complaining that women’s clothes are too uncomfortable compared to men’s and I said they were wrong so we have made a bet. One of my co-workers has a birthday party soon and it is a costume party. They have bet me $100 that I will not dare to go to the party dressed in women’s clothes, to win the bet I would have to stay completely in costume all night and it would have to include a dress, pantyhose, high heels, a wig, fake nails, make up and shaved legs. They will get all my clothes and give me a makeover if I go through with it. They think I will find the clothes and shoes too uncomfortable but I think I can get through it’s only one night after all and the money would be good! So women can you give me some advice, what will I find uncomfortable and how is it best to walk in high heels? It is going to be a laugh but to have fun I want to prove them totally wrong and make it a really brilliant costume because they don’t think I will go through with it!

some woman’s clothing is uncomfortable, there’s no getting around that. Sometimes it is necessary and preferable to wear things that are inconvenient, uncomfortable, or impractical so that you look good. It is the trend these days for a girl to dress …well… like a man really, people don’t care much about how they look and just dress sloppy.

but that’s my rant I guess.

shaving your legs - well I don’t know how it is for a man but do not shave against the grain and do not shave the same spot over and over again. If you can’t get it smooth shave to the side, not straight up. Otherwise you will get a razor burn and it will hurt.
I should suppose the same rules for shaving your face apply.

Wear a skirt that hits your legs just above the knees, not shorter. Really a skirt isn’t uncomfortable at all, wouldn’t worry about it too much.

Don’t buy cheap pantyhose, don’t buy any that say "100% nylon". I don’t even know why companies even make those things, they’re what cause people to say pantyhose are bad.
I would suggest Leggs Sheer Energy with a control top, make sure the color is one close to your own skin color. Make sure they’re in the correct size, there is a size chart on the back of the box and you should buy the correct one for your height and weight.
…I guess those measurements are for women but - well it should be close enough.
Leggs Sheer Energy are tighter than most pantyhose and are stronger and more durable, the control top is a tighter portion in the panty that will help a lot.
Definitely get two pairs just in case, if you accidentally tear them, run off and replace them. Your friends will probably laugh if they find out.
Look at this video on how to put on pantyhose - be a little more careful than this girl and sit down while you’re putting them on.

I don’t know what you’re wearing under those pantyhose but either wear women’s cotton panties or men’s briefs.

High heels should be a sensible height, don’t get really high pump stilettos because you won’t be able to walk in them. Get a 2 or 3 inch heel with a blocky heel, not a spike stiletto. It really shouldn’t be too hard to walk in them if they aren’t too high.

Hope you win your bet - ha I would see if you could get them to put more money down because you can do this easy.
And be careful not to get too comfortable, I have a feeling you might just like it :D
