how to manage 100% human hair wigs?

July 3rd, 2009

hi i just a wig…100% human hair..how do i manage it? can i use shampoo and conditioner? blowdry? curling iron? any info would be appreciated! and also what i shouldn’t do with it thx. Also will it affect my natural hair growth underneath since my hair is being pushed down?

Although it is the most natural and durable of all fibers from which wigs are made, human hair is more difficult to take care of, because each time it gets wet, it will lose the style, just as your own hair does. The only styles that would be fairly easy to take care of would be if the wig has a good perm in it, and is worn just moussed and scrunched without using anything else to style it. Also if you wear your hair in a straight, smooth style, a human hair wig would be ok. Otherwise, some kind of heat would have to be used to style it.

The same is true to a certain extent with human-synthetic blends. The synthetic hair holds it shape fairly well after washing, but the style may have to be touched up a little with a curling iron to refresh the style–lots less hassle than styling it again from scratch like 100% human hair.

The HairLife blend by Jacquelyn is made of about 50% human hair and 50% Advanced Elura synthetic fiber. This is a good combination because it give you the best of both worlds–the longevity of human hair, along with the synthetic’s ability to hold its shape after washing.

A curling iron set on LOW or WARM may be used on most synthetic fibers. Even though the blend contains human hair, one must defer to the synthetic when using heat methods for styling. Hot rollers or steam setters are OK too, but I recommend using end papers in order to keep the ends of the hair smooth.

CARE AND STYLING PRODUCTS (ALSO SUITABLE FOR BLENDS)

Although the hair used in making human hair wigs is grown on a human head, most of it isn’t like the hair growing out of your own head. After harvesting, it can be chemically processed to remove the cuticle in order to minimize tangling. (This does not include Virgin hair, which has never been chemically processed in any way. Most manufacturers use the processed hair because it doesn’t have to be harvested as carefully as Virgin hair, and is, therefore, less expensive to produce.)

In addition, hair from India or Asian sources starts out as dark brown or black, and is bleached out and dyed back for uniformity of color, then the hair is mixed and blended into whatever colors the company requires. So the hair has already gone through a triple chemical processing before it becomes a wig. For this reason, only shampoos, conditioners, sprays, and other styling products formulated especially for processed hair should be used. Oil-based products, like the ones we use on our hair, can coat processed hair and make it appear dull and lifeless.

We carry a full line of products made especially for human hair wig care. They may be found in our Wet Products section.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR WASHING YOUR HUMAN HAIR WIG:

Draw enough lukewarm water in a large pan or bowl to cover the wig or hairpiece well.

Dissolve a capful of prescribed wig shampoo, along with 1 tablespoon of baking soda.

Squeeze shampoo solution through hair gently, keeping hair going in one direction or it may tangle. If front of cap has makeup on it, it may be scrubbed gently with an old toothbrush.

Rinse wig well with plenty of lukewarm water.

Dissolve a capful or so of wig conditioner in plastic tub or pan of water to cover well. Work mixture through wig hair (remember: same direction). Rinse with fresh water. Lay wig out on towel and pat out excess water.

Pin on wig form and pick or comb out gently. At this point, a detangler such as Brandywine, Instacure, or Fiberguard with Lusterizer may be used. If working on a long wig, start combing out the hair at the ends and work up the strand to the roots. Wig may be set in rollers if desired and placed under hood dryer, or left to dry overnight. A hot curling iron may be used on 100% human hair wigs, but on human-synthetic blend wigs, don’t let the iron get too hot or it will damage the synthetic wig fiber.

A good indication of when the iron is too hot for the synthetics is that, instead of curling the fiber, it appears straight and limp when you remove the iron. In the worst case, the fiber melts and frizzes or disintegrates. Too much heat can also make the fiber appear frizzy because it damages the fiber. The bottom line here is to be careful when using a curling iron on any synthetic or blend wig. If the iron gets too hot when working with a human-synthetic blend, mist the barrel of the iron with water to cool it down.

chao hope it helps ingsaludosssssssssssssssss

Crossdressing?

July 3rd, 2009

If you we dating a man and after falling in love discovered he had a propensity toward wearing womens lingerie, high heels, and wigs and wanted you to dress up with him would you, considering all the other crazy stuff people are into these days and after he never confided in anyone but you , accept it and love him in spite of it or leave him?
I chose to stay with him, we were married two years ago. I except him as he is and I love him no matter what. He is very heterosexual and had no desire to be with a man. And I accept it because there are many other things out there he could be into that would not be cool, so I figured with all the variations of sexual pleasure this isn’t all that bad. More often he prefers me to be the one dressed up. This seems like our own private little world and I love it. Thanks for the thoughtful answers.

Dazi,

When you fell in love with this man you weren’t aware of his need to crossdress. What you’re unaware of is that he’s probably done this since he was a child and as such it’s a part of his overall personality, and his overall personality is a big part of the reason you fell in love with him to begin with.

He’s not mentally ill or perverted since he’s simply a part of the 10% of the male population who crossdresses to some extent on a regular basis. To date there has been no conclusive research or findings as to what causes someone to be a crossdresser, but there are a couple of very believable theories.

Crossdressers are, by-in-large, 100% heterosexual and have no aspirations of being anything else. For most, dressing is a form of relaxation and a method by which to relieve stress. For some (especially the younger dressers) it is a sexually exciting activity, but in time this is usually replaced by simply a feeling of well being and contentment. I entertain the idea that this method of relaxation/recreation is far more preferred than the drugs, alcohol, etc, that are usually harmful to one’s physical health that some use as ways of obtaining the same relief from stresses.

You’ve indicated that he has entrusted you with his secret and that you’re the ONLY person he’s ever confided in. This should speak volumes about how much he cares about you. He trusts and loves you enough to have shared his deepest secret with you. And at a guess I would say that he wanted to be sure that you KNOW about this part of him before either of you commit to any long-term relationships. In all probability he is smart enough have thoroughly researched the subject (as most crossdressers do) and realized that it’s not something that’s going to go away. He knows that he didn’t volunteer to be a crossdresser. He also knows, as do all other crossdressers, that he DOESN’T know why he was born the way he is – he just was, and he’s learned to just accept himself for who he is and learn to live with it.

The main obstacle in regards to crossdressing is society’s lack of education about what crossdressers really are. But even more importantly what they’re NOT. Since about the only references about them that the public ever sees are on programs like the Jerry Springer show, it’s obvious that there is little exposure to the TRUTH about crossdressers. This is the very reason most crossdressers must keep their secret closey guarded.

If you would like to begin doing some research on your own, I offer you the CLEAN material on my web site as a starting point (see the link below).

Do you have any tips on the lace front wigs?

July 3rd, 2009

I’ve been researching the lace front wigs and I’m interested. Does it hurt to remove the wig? Before I go spend hundreds on an expensive wig, is there something else I can try to give me an idea of what it will be like? How often do I need to take the wig off to manage my real hair? Will it cause my real hair to fall out in teh meantime?

Hey I saw your question? My sister uses and sells lace front wigs. The first time I saw her with one I( her brother) couldn’t even tell it was a wig because it actually looked like her hair. If you have any questions call on her business line at 1-877-827-9447(WIGS) ask for Leesa and she’ll give you the hook up. Tell her you know me and she probably give you a discount.

Am I a cross-dresser?

June 30th, 2009

I really enjoy wearing womens clothes. more for the fit than the fashion. I bought some tank tops with lace. and a pink and white lace tunic. I don't wear dresses or skirts. I don't wear make-up or a wig. I don't wear womens clothes all the time but I do go out in public. Am I a cross-dresser.

I think this kind of straddles the line of cross-dressing.

Classic psychoanalytic views of cross-dressing emphasized the role of "taboo" in the behavior. Only items that were proscribed to a gender would be appropriated, and therefore it is not the general association of an item with one sex or the other but the prohibitions against the item that give satisfaction to those with a fetish attachment to cross-dressing.

Now, since it seems like you like to wear these things only because they fit well and you like the variety of fashion, but NOT because you are deriving some kind of sexual "charge" from it, I do not think you could technically be classified as a cross-dresser.

Also, if you're not wearing these things to try to portray yourself as a woman, I think that just makes you a guy who likes women's shirts.

Why do African American women try to be Caucasian?

June 30th, 2009

READ: Ladies, don’t you get tired of that question and people saying it? I seriously don’t understand why people say African American women try to be white. How? Is it because we straighten our hair( first off, its more manageable, and Corporate America wouldn’t accept us natural. True stuff). Ive never wore a weave or a wig, my hair is very curly and thick so when tryin to just throw it in a pony tail is difficult, so I get my hair flat ironed. I get called tryin to “be white” for doing this. My sistas(african american women) who do wear weaves and chemically straighten their hair are also bashed and been told that they’re “tryin to be white”. Why cant we straighten our freakin hair without being told that? No, better question. How is an African American woman suppose to look?
latrell: I know this and I said that before, but Ive seen questions and many black guys saying it..I just want to know what they mean and what they think African American women should look like
*I've said
hnic, stop.
Lol: And you're telling me this because?

cj are you 4 real…black women and all sistas look just fine the way they are…its the white women with all there butt implanta and lip injections who are trying to look black

edit: my bad…. i didnt read the rest…but still i spoke the truth
